Know the difference and why you should take them. There are fat-soluble and water-soluble vitamins. Water-soluble vitamins are easily absorbed into body and the excess are removed from the body. Fat-soluble vitamins are not easily absorbed into bloodstream without consumption of foods rich in fat. Vitamin A and D are fat-soluble, while vitamin C is water-soluble. You may need your physician’s recommendation on these vitamins especially fat-soluble vitamins.
While you are taking vitamin supplements, do not over use them. The uncontrolled higher consumption may drive some health side effects. Excessive consumption of vitamin A may cause dizziness, vomiting, poor bone formation (osteoporosis) and hip fractures, and liver issues. High level of vitamin B12 concentration in the body may be drive liver problem in people, who are alcoholic.
Try as much to get your vitamins from natural sources – food sources. Vitamin A from vegetable oil, fish, egg, milk, carrot etc, vitamin B12 from meat, shrimp, chicken, egg, milk, vitamin C from fruits, vitamin E and K from green vegetables, vegetable oil, nut etc. However, there may still be a need for supplement source such as solo vitamin or multivitamin supplements.
